Happy Birthday!

Friday was Ben's Birthday.  One year older and wiser too!  Amelie and I went out for a while on his birthday to get him a special balloon and card.  Amelie got to pick BOTH out.  She chose three balloons.  A square balloon that had candles all over it (which popped before we got home), a balloon that was in the shape of a cupcake with a candle on top and a Disney Princess balloon.  After looking at EVERY card, she finally decided on a pink card with SPARKLY pink flamingo on it that said Hey Girl (cross that out and write daddy), Hope you have a glamorous birthday!  

When we got home, Amelie gave Ben the Princess balloon AND the card and he was so gracious.  He made Amelie feel like a million dollars and like she picked the PERFECT balloon and card.  That's what a great father he is. 

So for dinner we went to get pizza and Ben got a free cookie!  Amelie was pretty sure it was for her though!

After, we went to Old Town and got our taffy and soda and watched a band play.  Amelie was asked by a little boy younger than her to dance with him.  HER FIRST time!  Unfortunately, she decided to become shy and said no.  After about 15 minutes it started to rain.  Then POUR, then HAIL.  We took cover under a tree, until it became evident that the tree wasn't going to keep us dry, then we ran for cover by a store.  A very kind woman offered Amelie a towel to help her keep warm as she was shivering.  After a few more minutes we decided to go hang out in a store until the storm passed.  Once the worst of the storm passed, we ran to the car and drove home.  

The next day, we bought Ben his real present.  A new bike.  Amazon listed his bike at $400.  Walmart had it for $200.  LUCKY US!  I think Amelie was the most excited about the new bike because it meant that Dad could do bike rides WITH her, rather than walk behind her!
