So after getting "free zoo day" wrong, we went back the next day for the real deal. The place was PACKED - as we expected. And not long after we got there, Amelie was begging for popcorn. So we nabbed a bag as our special treat and enjoyed seeing all the animals. We were lucky enough to see several babies with their mama's. Amelie was quirky and after an hour said "Let's go home, I'm done." Then she'd hear some kid mention an animal and in her next breath would say "Let's go see the Monkeys! or the Elephants or the Giraffe." This happened several times and so we'd trudge on and see said animal. Overall we had a great time and the weather was perfect.
My favorite part though was when we were looking at the Monkeys. A little girl and her mom were standing next to us. The mom said to her daughter: "Oh look - there's the monkey! Oh and there's a butterfly too!" (As she was pointing to Amelie).
Amelie after a moment or two turned around to me and said "I don't see a butterfly - where is it?" At which point I had to tell her, SHE was the butterfly. :)
